Colorfully handpainted tile depicting a vibrant windmill scene in the Dutch countryside from The Original Blue Collection. Royal Delft Blue tiles were displayed in the 17th century. With an increase in wealth, there was an increase in demand for decorative tiles and the diversity increased too. Mostly, the tiles were used to decorate fireplaces, kitchens and doors. The tiles were decorated with the scenes from everyday life. Ships, windmills, child play and animals were just a couple of the themes that were popular then, but also have a place in our handmade and handpainted collections nowadays.
